• Nature and Garden Backpacks - These backpacks are filled with bug catchers, magnifiers, nature guides, sketch pads, journals and more. They are great for family and school group activities - and they're FREE for use on the grounds!
• Books N Blankets - Looking for a laid-back way to enjoy a beautiful afternoon with the kids? Ask our Visitor Center staff for a Book N Blanket Basket. Each basket contains a comfy blanket and a handful of nature/garden-themed children's books. Then, find a nice shady spot, spread out the blanket, and enjoy sharing a special book together. And if you have a favorite book you think we should offer, let us know. We're always looking for good additions.
• Scavenger Hunts - Also available at the Visitor Center are several scavenger hunt cards for kids. There's one for Yew Dell architectural details, one for unusual plants and others on the way.
• Saturday Morning - Children in the Dell Programs - Each Saturday (10:30am - noon) April through October, Yew Dell offers this program just for kids. They'll enjoy nature walks, planting vegetables in the garden, catching insects and a host of other garden and nature inspired activities. Each session is lead by an experienced educator. Drop ins are welcome but preregistration is encouraged to guarantee a spot.
